Everton have confirmed that attacker Shani Tarahsaj has rejoined former side Grasshoppers on a season long loan deal.

The Toffees revealed on their website that the 23-year-old striker, who arrived at Goodison Park from the Swiss side back in the January transfer window of 2016, has agreed terms to head back over to his old club after missing much of last season as a result of knee injury.

Yet to make a first team appearance for the Merseyside outfit, the Switzerland international turned out 60 times for Grasshoppers while a permanent member of the team as well as during his loan spell after signing for Everton.

Opinion

Tarashaj simply has not had the chance to show what he can do at Goodison Park just yet and it seems as though Marco Silva feels that being in familiar surroundings should help him find his feet while the Toffees decide what to do with him. The injury blow last season did not help his cause one bit and had he been fully fit, there was every chance either Ronald Koeman or Sam Allardyce would have called upon his talents in the first team. However, he was left watching on from the sidelines, and with the likes of Cenk Tosun to compete for a senior role with, he is heading out to find the game time he desperately needs to recover his goal scoring touch. Does he have a future at Everton? That much remains to be seen, but all he can do is try and fire Grasshoppers to success and hope Silva is watching on.
