Everton striker Fraser Hornby has signed his first professional contract at the club as confirmed on their official website.

The Toffees revealed on Wednesday (04/17) that 18-year-old has put pen to paper on his first professional contract at Everton, which lasts three years and expires in 2021.

The youngster has represented Scotland internationally at Under 17, 19 and 21’s level, and netted 19 goals last season for the Toffees’ Under 23’s side.

He was quoted by Everton TV as saying: “Every young lad’s dream is to become a professional footballer and it’s my first professional deal so I’m just delighted and I can’t wait to get started now.

“It’s been a memorable 12 months, considering at the start of last season I was coming back from a long-term injury.”

OPINION

Hornby has thoroughly impressed for the Under 23’s side during the 2017/2018 campaign, netting an outstanding 19 goals and five assists in all competitions this season. He has already had a taste of first team football after starring in the 3-0 win at Apollon Limassol last December. The teen forward certainly has the pedigree to achieve great things with Everton based on these statistics, and it will remain to be seen whether Marco Silva will give him an opportunity to play for them in the upcoming season. He definitely deserves the chance to have a proper taste of the first-team, and he can only carry on where he left off with the under 23’s side, and maintain his goal-scoring form at Goodison Park. Silva should welcome the addition of players from the youth set-up, as they could potentially provide the talent he is looking for, and of whom would be cheaper alternatives than scouring the transfer market.
