COMMENTARY:
It’s fair to say the Toffees faithful are getting fidgety about the lack of transfer activity at the club this summer. It is in stark contrast to recent windows, when Everton have been one of the league’s biggest spenders. Majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri appears to be following a different path this summer, as the club look to right the wrongs of mistakes from the past. Some supporters have rightly chided those who are responding to an Everton rookie contract extension with demands for the club to sign a bigger name. That is unfair to a youngster who has worked his socks off to make it in the professional game, where the demands and competition at the highest level are brutal.
