New Everton manager Marco Silva will be looking to bring in some fresh blood to try and bolster his squad this summer – but after last summer’s big spending disaster, the Toffees need to spend savvy over the next couple weeks.

After seeing the likes of Davy Klaassen and Gylfi Sigurdsson failing to live up to expectation after arriving through the doors at Goodison Park, the Merseyside outfit will be reluctant to spend that sort of money once again.

To spend a fee in the region of £30million once again would only be splashed out for a dazzling talent, and that is not something that can be said about Swedish star Emil Forsberg.

The Mirror claim that the Toffees are chasing the 26-year-old from RB Leipzig this summer, with a £30million valuation slapped on his head.

His form over in Germany, with just five goals and four assists in 33 appearances, is hardly the most inspiring of records, while he has managed to score just once while on international duty with Sweden at the World Cup – netting the winner in the knock out clash with Switzerland.

He is no doubt a creative talent, but he has not shown anything to warrant the sort of price tag that is being reported, and it would just be making the same mistake that was made 12 months ago.

That sort of money could be spent much better elsewhere.
