A section of Everton fans have been reacting on social media to the news that the club has reportedly made an offer worth £27million for Barcelona defender Yerry Mina.
Goal’s report states that the Toffees are set to win the race for the towering centre back, beating out interest from the likes of Wolves and Lyon.
The Colombia international starred for his country at this summer’s World Cup, forming a formidable partnership with Tottenham man Davinson Sanchez.
Now Mina could be set to join his team-mate in English football, and some Everton fans have reacted with a mixture of scepticism and excitement.

If we get Mina & Digne then our back four should be: Coleman Mina Holgate Digne. I think that would be the strongest. Jags is to old now & Keane still is questionable . Holgate progressed last season & will again under Silva.

Until he’s pulling on the shirt, doing a pigeon dance and stating ‘Everton were the only club for me and I’ve supported them all my life’ then I ain’t gonna believe it!

We are leading the race. Just pray another club don’t bid in the same region.

OPINION
You can see why Everton fans would be sceptical, despite a fee reportedly being agreed. The player has been linked with Arsenal, Wolves, Liverpool and Lyon at some time or other this summer, with the 23-year-old’s tremendous World Cup displays generating fierce interest in him. The fact Barcelona are willing to sell having only signed him in January is somewhat of a red flag, but failing to cut the mustard at the Nou Camp is something that has happened to many fine players of the years. It’s said that the Spanish champions only want to sell Mina in order to open up a spot for a non-EU signing, not because of any lack of quality. The Toffees do appear to be in pole position, but agreeing a fee is not the same thing as getting a deal completed. The player still needs to agree personal terms with the club and pass a medical, with some Everton fans doubtful that the Colombian even wants to come to Merseyside. This one’s not over yet.
