Everton lost to 5-3 Lille on penalties after a 0-0 draw in the Algarve Cup on Saturday evening, and some fans have taken to Twitter to rave about the display of midfielder Muhamed Besic.
The Bosnia international, who spent last season on loan at Middlesbrough, put in an impressive all-action performance for the Toffees, while also converting his spot-kick in the shoot-out.
Fans have now taken to Twitter to react to the 25-year-old’s display, with many raving about his performance while others have called on the club to keep hold of him this summer amid exit rumours.

Right now Besic >> Davies. And I love Tom but still needs some development in his game, mainly intelligence. Fight me.

Always been a fan of Besic, He has had a tough couple of years with us, injuries and out of favour but always remained professional, kept his head down, no bad words spoken. Deserves another shot!

Mo Besic has every quality needed to become a fan favourite at Goodison Park. If he has a good run in the team and controls his aggression a little better there’s no reason for this not to happen. #EFC

OPINION
Besic is a player that splits opinion at Goodison Park, and it is easy to see why. The Bosnia international tends to impress in pre-season before failing to do so once the season gets going, or getting injured soon after. There is undeniable quality there, but the 25-year-old has not performed well enough on a consistent basis to warrant a starting place at Everton. These fans seem enamoured by his display, but this is just pre-season, and it will not be surprising to see Besic fall short once the season starts in a few weeks time, if he is not sold on by Marco Silva.
