A selection of Everton fans on Twitter have all been left urging their side to make a signing for the first team after it was confirmed that young striker Manasse Mampala had signed his first professional contract at the club.
The Toffees confirmed on both Twitter and their website that the 17-year-old hitman, who had appeared for both the under-18s and the under-23s last season, had put pen to paper on a contract committing himself at Goodison Park for the near future.

However, fans were not too impressed at their side’s lack of business in the transfer window this summer, with many taking the youngster’s new contract as a chance to urge the club to bring in a new senior signing.

Opinion
It is not hard to see where the Everton fans’ priorities lie right now, and while Mampala might be an exciting prospect, they want to see proven talent through the doors at Goodison Park. After last season’s big spending though, it seems as though those at the top of the club are reluctant to green light the same sort of expenditure, and Marco Silva will have to spend savvy if he is to bring in the new recruits he so desires. It is a shame that fans have allowed the situation to overshadow Mampala’s commitment to the club, but at the same time they will be more excited about him when he is banging the goals in at a packed Goodison Park. For now, their focus is on the present, not the future.
