Celtic are set to rebuff a mega-money bid from Everton for Parkhead hero Kieran Tierney, who may be open to a surprise move if his asking price is met by the Toffees, according to the Daily Record.

The newspaper state on their website that the Hoops will turn down the Premier League side’s £25million offer for the left back, who has become a firm favourite of the Bhoys after breaking through the youth ranks and becoming a first team stalwart.

However, it is reported that Everton will return with a fresh offer to tempt the Glasgow giants into selling, and that were they to offer an amount impossible to turn down, then the 21-year-old could be tempted into making a shock exit south of the border, despite having regularly stated his future lies at Celtic Park with a six-year contract penned in October.

Opinion

Tierney has been so very vocal about wanting to stay with Celtic this summer, so to hear that he would be open to a move to Goodison Park is a real shock, and will be difficult to take for the Hoops faithful. It remains to be seen whether the Premier League outfit are willing to break the bank for Tierney’s capture, with £25million already a lot for a young defender who has only really shown what he can do in the Scottish league – although there is no doubt his Champions League appearances will be boosting his price tag somewhat. It seemed as though he would be on his way only if a giant of England came in for his capture, so for the Toffees to be leading the way is something of a surprise. However, money talks in football, and if Everton are willing to pay both Celtic and Tierney the money they desire, they could well get this one over the line.
