Prominent Belgian journalist Kristof Terreur has said that while there has been contact between Barcelona and Eden Hazard over a move this summer, there have been no negotiations.

In more good news for Chelsea fans, Terreur has said that Barcelona can’t afford to buy Hazard at the moment anyway, and added that Real Madrid haven’t made an offer either.

Terreur made the claims on his personal Twitter page on Friday morning.

Good move for Chelsea?

Selling Eden Hazard would be a terrible move for Chelsea. He’s their standout player – and he proved again how good he is at the World Cup finals with Belgium. Even last season, with Chelsea in the doldrums, Hazard was the one spark that consistently pushed the club forwards. With Maurizio Sarri set to be announced as the new Chelsea manager, getting rid of Hazard would get the new man off to a terrible start at Stamford Bridge.

Likely to happen?

Chelsea don’t want to sell and there’s more good news from the report that the two big clubs haven’t made any concrete moves. The English transfer window slams shut on August 9 and a deal like this would be hugely complicated – just look at how long the Coutinho deal from Liverpool took to sort out. That means that this one is highly unlikely to happen from this position in the next three weeks.
