Arsenal are preparing to swoop for Boca Juniors winger Cristian Pavon, according to Spanish publication AS.

The media outlet reports on their website that the Gunners face fierce competition from Barcelona, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain to land the 22-year-old, who is likened to former Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez due to his style of play.

The speedy winger, who appeared in every one of Argentina’s World Cup games, has a contract at his club that expires in 2021, with a reported release clause of £26 million.

Pavon netted seven goals and provided 17 assists for his club last season, and Emery is said to view him as a potential part of his new system at the Emirates.

Good move for Arsenal?

Yes, definitely. The Gunners are in dire need of a player who can provide a genuine attacking threat, and his assist rate will most certainly be a huge boost for the team.

His 17 assists tell Emery all he needs to know – and he will be hoping that he can replicate that form for them in the Premier League next season.

Pavon may need to increase his goal tally slightly because of the position he plays in, but his assists will be invaluable to an Arsenal side who need the extra fire power.
