Newcastle United will have first refusal on Kenedy next summer as part of his reported loan move from Chelsea, according to a trusted journalist.
Evening Standard journalist Simon Johnson has revealed that although there is no option to buy Kenedy for a set fee as part of his loan move, Newcastle will get first refusal on any possible transfer next summer.
It is understood that the deal that takes him to St James’ Park is imminent, with him undergoing a medical on Tuesday morning.
Ok, so need to clarify this. There isn’t a clause with a set fee as such, but led to believe #nufc do have first option to discuss a price with #cfc if they wish to buy him next summer. https://t.co/Om3yNDSI1P

As reported by Sky Sports Journalist Keith Downie yesterday, Kenedy is set to join the Magpies on a season-long loan deal from Chelsea.
The Brazilian midfielder was one of the Toon’s standout players last season during his short loan spell, scoring two goals and providing two assists in 13 Premier League appearances (TransferMarkt).
OPINION
This is great news for Newcastle boss Rafael Benitez, as although there won’t be a set fee available to buy Kenedy during the loan, the fact that they get first refusal will be a massive boost as there will be a number of clubs interested in his services next summer. The Brazilian midfielder can provide something special for the Toon faithful next season, he’s capable of moments of magic that will cause the St. James Park crowd to rise to their feet, hopefully he can also help the club avoid a relegation battle next season. The only problem is that if he continues where he left off at Newcastle last season, his price will almost certainly shoot up, which could bring doubt to a permanent move next summer. However, this should only be the start of a busy transfer window for Benitez who needs badly reinforcements for next season, but the arrival of Kenedy will certainly help the Spaniard’s cause.
