A section of Newcastle United fans have been reacting on Twitter after it was claimed that the club is in pursuit of Atlanta United attacker Miguel Almiron this summer.
According to Guardian journalist Ed Aarons via his personal Twitter account, Newcastle and West Ham are both interested in Almiron, 24, however neither of them have tabled bids for the £20million-rated Paraguay international.
Newcastle interested in signing Miguel Almiron. West Ham also looking at Paraguay midfielder but no bids as yet. Atlanta value him at around £20m

Although Almiron has been in impressive form in the MLS, some Newcastle fans are in the belief that the club will not be able to afford him at his current asking price and do not reckon that the club will be able to pull off a move to sign him this summer.

Then you can rule Newcastle out straight away at £20 million.

OPINION
These Newcastle fans are right to be cautious about getting excited over Almiron. It definitely seems as though the club needs to sell before they buy – again – this summer in what is turning out to be a very frustrating transfer window for the Toon Army. As one supporter said, Almiron could be destined for big things and his form in the MLS suggests that he would surely be attracting interest from Europe soon. He has scored eight goals and supplied 11 assists in 2018 and may well be a good addition at St James’ Park. Anything near that price-tag though will surely put United out of the race to sign him.
