Leeds United have made an offer to sign Al Sadd striker Baghdad Bounedjah, according to DZ FOOT.
The Algerian outlet claim that Leeds have made a firm offer to sign the 26-year-old, who currently plays his club football in Qatar.
The report reveals that Bounedjah’s wage demands are currently holding up any potential deal, as he wants a similar deal to what he currently has at Al Sadd.
The Algerian striker was in phenomenal goalscoring form for his club last season, scoring 25 goals in just 19 appearances in all competitions, a record that attracted the interest of Whites manager Marcelo Bielsa (TransferMarkt).
Good move for Leeds?
It’s difficult to determine the how good his goalscoring exploits are, considering the standard of the league that he’s currently playing in. Despite these concerns, 25 goals in 19 appearances is pretty special form in any league and cannot be ignored. Also, no fee has been reported, so it’s hard to see what financial implications this deal may have. It’s pretty clear that Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa needs a striker, but is Bounedjah a better option that Vydra? It’s a big risk.

Likely to happen?
Considering the wages that Bounedjah is probably receiving in Qatar, it’s going to be very difficult for Leeds to get near any suitable offer. This is a very left-field deal that has seemingly come out of nowhere, as Bielsa looks far and wide in order to solve his striker conundrum. With a deal for Matej Vydra on the horizon, who has experience of the division on his side, that’s probably the more likely one at this point.
