Leeds fans were bracing themselves for a scary couple of weeks after Swedish outlet Expressen claimed that West Brom were interested in centre-back Pontus Jansson.

They said there was ‘concrete interest’ in the player from their Championship rivals, and Leeds fans were split.

Some were worried that there might be legs in it, with one fan saying that West Brom were showing the sort of ambition that Jansson wanted and that fans couldn’t blame him if he left.

That seems a bit unfair to Leeds though, who don’t have the benefit of a huge parachute payment and have just landed one of the world’s elite managers.

Another fan was sick of Jansson’s performances from last season and said he’d drive Jansson down to West Brom himself.

That’s not the view of the majority though, with one saying that he’d only go for a Premier League or big European club and that a move to West Brom would be a sideways one.

However, another said that he thought West Brom would walk the league and could therefore offer Jansson the keys to the Premier League.

Here are the best reactions from Leeds fans to the reported news:

OPINION

The overwhelming consensus is that Leeds fans want Jansson to stay but some are worried that he might well be tempted by a move to a club who have more money and a clearer route back to the Premier League. They’re also after former Leeds defensive partner Kyle Bartley and that could be another tug for Jansson. However, we don’t think it will happen. We’re with the fans who think it would be a sideways move, specially with Bielsa in charge at Leeds. It’s worth Jansson giving it at least one more season at Elland Road. If he does go though, as one fan said, West brom can expect to pay at least £15million for his signature.
