Everton fans react as club edges closer to Richarlison swoop

|

A section of Everton fans have been reacting on Twitter after it was reported that the club is closing in on a blockbuster £50million deal to sign Watford attacker Richarlison.

The Daily Mail has reported that Marco Silva is keen to re-sign the 21-year-old Brazilian, who he bought at Watford last summer, and is willing to break the club’s record transfer on luring him to Goodison Park.

Richarlison hit the ground running under Silva’s leadership at Vicarage Road, but after the Portuguese manager left, he failed to score a single goal.

Some Everton fans have been left concerned about the hunt to sign Richarlison for such a hefty fee, with one claiming that he has “no faith” in majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri.

OPINION

It is very easy to see why these fans are concerned. While it makes sense that Richarlison’s form dropped off because of Silva leaving Watford and because he had been playing for Fluminense in Brazil throughout the summer of 2017, it still does not help justify spending £50million on someone who is yet to really prove himself in the Premier League. He would become the sixth-most expensive Brazilian of all time, does he really deserve to have that sort of price-tag after a few good months? Moshiri looks to just be throwing cash out left, right and centre in a desperate attempt to improve the squad, but really he is just fueling egos and setting up his managers to fail
