Rangers forward Jason Cummings has hit out at not being given more of a chance as he delivered his verdict on his loan move to Peterborough United in a heartfelt message on Instagram.

The 22-year-old’s move to the League One outfit was confirmed via the Posh’s official Twitter account, with the Gers hitman heading to England’s third tier on a season-long temporary switch.

However, Cummings was evidently disappointed at the decision to be allowed to move from Ibrox this summer, hitting out at those who decided not to give him more of an opportunity to prove himself, while thanking the fans for their support.

He wrote on his personal Instagram account: “Gutted that it’s over but happy that it happened. Wish I had been given more of a chance but that’s football. Thanks to the fans who made it special for me.”

Opinion

Cummings has never been one to shy away from giving his opinion and he has done all he can to make his feelings known without naming names or disparaging his parent club – a smart move considering he is still contracted to the Gers. A drop to League One is a big blow for someone who was featuring on a regular basis in Scotland’s top flight, and he must be convinced by Peterborough’s ambitions for the upcoming campaign. It is one of a number of departures that can be expected at Ibrox before the summer window comes to an end, as Steven Gerrard continues to conduct a mass overhaul of his options in the first team squad. Fans may miss Cummings’ forthright attitude and no nonsense displays, but if Stevie G can bring in more quality as a result of his exit, then they will have no issue about the green light being given for him to move to the Posh.
