Leeds United’s deal to sign Derby’s Matej Vydra could be under threat as there has been a “slight complication” with the centre-forward’s medical, according to TeamTalk editor James Marshment.

The reliable journalist claimed on his personal Twitter account on Friday that while talks are yet to reach a conclusion, something has come up that may potentially derail Leeds’ chances of signing Vydra due to his medical.

Leeds have been widely-reported to have been chasing the 26-year-old for most of the summer due to his proven track record in the Championship.

Last season he won the golden boot with 21 goals in 40 league appearances.

OPINION

It would be peak Leeds if they were to have chased Vydra all summer, come to an agreement over his wages and his transfer fee and then for it to all fall to bits when it comes to him having his medical. It’s hard to see how the Czech Republic ace could fail his medical and maybe the complication is more to do with getting him booked in for his checks rather than something being picked up that could see his move fall through. The former Watford and West Brom forward is not exactly injury-prone, having enjoyed several seasons of playing regularly in the Championship. He hit his stride last season with Derby and showed that he would be an unreal signing for Leeds to make this summer. The Yorkshire giants need a new centre-forward and Vydra would fit the mould perfectly, so let’s hope that there is nothing serious in this potential setback.
