If Chelsea manage to secure the double signing of Napoli duo Maurizio Sarri and Jorginho, it makes them huge Premier League title contenders once again.

As reported by the Evening Standard, Chelsea are closing in on a double deal for Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri and midfielder Jorginho. The outlet claims that the London club will offer £51.25million up front, with another £6.18million in add-ons, which includes both Sarri’s release clause and the fee for Jorginho.

As reported by The Guardian, Manchester City were close to signing the Italian after agreeing a fee in the region of £43million with Napoli last week, so this will be a big blow to Pep Guardiola’s side ahead of next season. The 26-year-old midfield creator will link up with his former manager at Stamford Bridge, as Sarri’s arrival will surely signal the end of Antonio Conte’s reign.

This is an exceptional bit of business by Chelsea.

By signing Jorginho they’ll not only get a fantastic player who will make the team markedly better, they will also weaken their Premier League rivals Manchester City by hijacking their move for the player.

The appointment of Sarri is also a fantastic move for the club, his team’s play beautiful attacking football and he will win the hearts and minds of the Stamford Bridge faithful. His Napoli side thrilled the club’s fans and neutrals alike, as they eventually finished second in Serie A after pushing Juventus all the way.

This is the news all Chelsea fans have been waiting for. Chelsea need a manager in quickly because although Conte is still officially the club’s manager, it’s the worst kept secret in football that he’s no longer wanted at Stamford Bridge. Finally, their season can start now, and with Sarri in charge and Jorginho through the door, they will be a dangerous team next season.
