West Brom are set to sign Leicester City winger Harvey Barnes tomorrow (Tuesday, 24 July), according to the Birmingham Mail.

The local news outlet claims that Albion manager Darren Moore is keen to sign the winger on a season-long loan deal, in what will be their fourth signing of the summer following their relegation to the Championship.

The report reveals that the Baggies hope to complete the signing over the next 24 hours (from Monday), in time for their pre-season friendly against Barnsley tomorrow.

The 20-year-old spent last season on loan at Championship outfit Barnsley, scoring five goals and providing five assists in 25 appearances.

Good signing for West Brom?

Absolutely.

Albion have been in desperate need of exciting talent in wide areas, made even more important after the sale of James McClean to Stoke City, so this signing should go some way to providing that.

The 20-year-old is a highly rated winger who flourished on loan in the Championship last season and deserves to get the chance to earn first-team football at a big club like West Brom, as he won’t break into the Leicester City first-team squad.

This would be a big boost for Darren Moore.

Likely to happen?

Yes.

This is a deal that benefits all parties.

Leicester loan out a young player so he can get regular first-team experience, the Baggies get the wide player they’ve been wanting all summer and it doesn’t cost either side much to do the deal.

The player would also likely want to transfer to The Hawthorns as it’s a good opportunity to prove his value and earn a move there or elsewhere.
