With Wolverhampton Wanderers reportedly keen on Middlesbrough’s Adama Traore, West Bromwich Albion must swoop and beat their local rivals to the signing.

As reported by the Independent, Wolves are considering triggering the Spanish winger’s £18million release clause this summer, as they look to beat competition from Huddersfield and add to their attacking options for their upcoming Premier League campaign.

However, Wolves’ local rivals West Brom should hijack the move and activate the release clause to jump ahead of the queue and kickstart their promotion push.

The Baggies need some exciting wide players in their squad ahead of next season, with James McClean, Nacer Chadli and Matt Phillips all likely to leave The Hawthorns before the transfer window closes.

The money that they’d receive from the sales of those three players would be more than enough to trigger the reported £18million clause in Traore’s contract, so they should do it now instead of waiting around and risk losing him to their biggest rivals.

The 22-year-old winger is an electric talent who is most probably the quickest player in the Championship, he can go past defenders at will and could reek havoc in the West Brom team. The Spaniard does need to work on his final product, which should come more naturally as he matures into a more well-rounded player, as too many of his crosses and final passes go wayward at the moment.

Despite this, the former Barcelona speed demon would be a perfect signing for Albion in this summers transfer window, they need him much more than Wolves do at this present time. He would also play a lot more regularly under Darren Moore, considering the impending departures at the club, than he ever would have at Molineux.

West Brom need to pay that clause right away or risk losing someone who could be a real spearhead for their promotion push.
