With West Brom in major need of attacking reinforcements ahead of the new campaign, Leeds forward Kemar Roofe should be brought back to the club.

According to Football Insider, West Brom are lining up a bid for the 25-year-old, as they look to sign players who can fire them back up to the Premier League.

Roofe began his career at The Hawthorns and was very highly-rated as a youth prospect at the club. However, he was released by the club in 2015 and picked up by Oxford United on a free transfer.

His form at the U’s was sensational, scoring 25 goals and providing 12 assists in just 49 games. The attacker’s performances at the Kassam Stadium attracted the attention of Leeds United, who spent £3.15m to bring him to Elland Road.

In the next two season with the Whites, despite playing in a number of different roles, the club being in turmoil and playing under a number of different managers, Roofe has scored 18 goals and provided 12 assists. That is not a bad record, considering the lack of a consistent approach at the club (TransferMarkt).

The Walsall-born attacker is highly versatile and can play in a number of different positions across the front-line. He can play as an out-and-out striker, behind the forward or on either wing and can still be effective, as his goal and assist record shows.

Baggies boss Darren Moore will need someone like that in his team for next season, someone who can unlock the door or pop up and score an important goal when he’s needed. One thing’s for sure, he’s a much better player than James McClean.

Albion need to swallow their pride and cough up the cash to bring Roofe back to where it all began. The fans would love seeing him back and boy, would he have a point to prove.
