West Brom manager Darren Moore is thrilled to secure the loan signing of Leicester City’s Harvey Barnes.

Moore believes that Barnes, who joins on a season-long loan, will be a success with the Albion fans and has experience in the Championship and Premier League after featuring for parent club Leicester.

“He is an exciting young player – one that I think our supporters will enjoy watching,” Moore told Albion’s official club website.

“We’ve got a lot of exciting youngsters at this club and Harvey now adds to that group.

“He’s got good experience of the Championship already and I am thrilled at the prospect of him adding his talents to our group. I couldn’t be happier that we have been able to bring him in.”

Barnes is West Brom’s fourth summer signing, joining Sam Johnstone, Kyle Bartley and Jonathan Bond in heading to The Hawthorns this summer.

OPINION

At the age of 20, Barnes has been able to rack up goals and assists whilst featuring on loan for the last two consecutive seasons with MK Dons and Barnsley respectively. He has a positive attitude towards the game for someone lacking first-team experience and, after West Brom’s relegation from the Premier League, the promising youngster could be a breath of fresh air for a club in current turmoil. Barnes has featured at international youth level with England, claiming five caps for the U20s and netting twice. Barnes has shown his capability at youth level but it is time for him to start competing with the senior players and West Brom is an ideal club to move to with a strong fanbase and history. If Darren Moore can get Barnes to play to the best of his ability in a consistent role with the first-team, he is more than capable of netting goals and notching up many assists.
