Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa wants to sign four more players before the transfer window for permanent deals shuts on 9 August, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.

The regional newspaper claim the Argentine has a “substantial” transfer list made up of a centre-forward, a midfielder, a full-back and a winger.

The Yorkshire Evening Post report the 9 August deadline in three weeks’ time is lurking for those at the club keen for Bielsa’s regime to be the success demanded by owner Andrea Radrizzani.

The pressure is certainly on those responsible for Leeds’ recruitment; on Radrizzani, director of football Victor Orta and managing director Angus Kinnear. The new manager is known for his demanding style, both of directors and players. It is hard to imagine him being satisfied if his transfer list is not ticked off, or he is left with a squad broadly similar to that which limped over the Championship finishing line last season. To say Leeds are crying out for reinforcements is something of an understatement. Fans are getting twitchy as talks with targets fail to materialise in deals, and those who follow the club are particularly keen for a proven goalscorer able to do something similar to what Chris Wood achieved two seasons ago. The clock is ticking, but there is still time to secure quality players if Leeds top brass are ambitious and can negotiate smartly and effectively.
