Nottingham Forest finished a lowly 17th in the Championship last season, but that is certainly set to change following their busy transfer activity this summer and they should not show signs of letting up any time soon.

Aston Villa striker Ross McCormack has out of favour with Steve Bruce for a long time, and this was further evident when the 31-year-old was sent out on loan to Australian oufit Melbourne City, where he spent the first half of last season.

As such, Forest should take advantage of this frosty situation between the two parties, and take back their former striker, having spent time with the club during a loan spell at the start of 2017, to reignite his playing career.

The Scot netted 14 goals in 17 appearances whilst starring for A-League club, which is not a bad return for a player who is being ousted by his current club.

He only made two appearances all season for Villa, which goes to show the sticky situation he finds himself in – and now is the perfect time for McCormack to reunite with his former club.

McCormack does not deserve to be thrown out in the cold by Aston Villa – he is a player of experience and definitely has an eye for goal, with 120 Championship strikes to his name.

With 333 second tier appearances, having previously played for Leeds and Cardiff, McCormack has the experience to be an exceptional talent for the Reds once again, and he could possibly be the final piece in Forest’s quest to achieve Premier League promotion.

McCormack – who made his debut for Scotland in 2008 – is much better off at the City Ground, where he would surely establish himself as a fan favourite.
