Leeds could still land striker Matej Vydra from Derby County, according to the Sun.

The report claims that Derby County are willing to sell because of Financial Fair Play rules, but that Vydra is waiting in the hope that a Premier League side comes in for him.

It is said that he is willing to play a waiting game, although time is running out with the English transfer window shutting on August 9.

There is more hope for Leeds though, with Vydra said to find a move to Elland Road attractive.

Good move for Leeds?

Very much. Vydra finished as second top scorer in the Championship last season and scored 21 goals in 40 games. That’s exactly what Leeds have been looking for since Chris Wood left for Burnley. They’re not going to find anyone better for the same money and Vydra comes with the big advantage of being proven at this level. Leeds fans would be over the moon if he moved to Elland Road, and with good reason.

Likely to happen?

It seems that a move to Elland Road is still very much on the cards. While he’s hoping for a move to the Premier League, nothing has materialised and time is running out. Newcastle might be a possible destination but there’s going to be real concern on their side that he won’t be able to reproduce his form in the top-flight. Derby are willing to sell and Leeds are desperate for a new striker. The £11million that Derby want would be within their reach but the downside is that a deal might not get done until very late in the window.
