Fans at Leeds United might well have been expecting more from their side in the summer transfer window this year after the club’s disappointing league display, but after much waiting it looks as though their patience will pay off.

Until Barry Douglas’ arrival at Elland Road from Wolves, the Whites had only brought in Jamal Blackman and Lewis Baker in on loan from Chelsea, and the supporters would no doubt have been bitterly disappointed that Marcelo Bielsa had not managed to seal more deals.

The ball is rolling now though, and after Patrick Bamford’s reported medical to complete a move from Middlesbrough, there is another attacker set to arrive through the door.

The Yorkshire Evening Post’s Phil Hay claims on his personal Twitter account that Leeds are set to welcome Manchester City winger Jack Harrison to the club, with a medical on Monday (30 July), and his arrival thrusts two senior stars in the firing line.

Harrison, who struggled to get a game for Middlesbrough last season, is a right sided flyer, meaning that Ezgjan Alioski and Stuart Dallas, the pair who occupied the role between them last season, face added competition, and could even find themselves axed from the first team.

Alioski, who stands at 5’6″ (source: Transfermarkt) was a mainstay for Leeds last season, making 45 appearances across all competitions, and while he is naturally a left winger, was often used on the right flank.

Dallas was also used in the same role, as well as in defence on both flanks, but Harrison’s imminent arrival spells trouble for the pair in the first team.

Average last season, they need to up their games if they want to keep their first team role, or face being dropped in favour of Leeds’ proposed latest arrival.
