There are no two ways about it. Celtic supporters will be bouncing this morning following a report in The Scottish Sun which revealed that Everton no longer hold an interest in left-back Kieran Tierney.

Loved and adored by the Hoops faithful, they do not want to see the exit of the 21-year-old who has come through the ranks at Parkhead and is a self-confessed fan.

But the Toffees believe that the £25million fee they were reportedly happy to stump up to land the highly-rated full-back is too high a price to pay for a player plying his trade in the Scottish Premiership.

While that might all sound fantastic and possibly the best news the club has had this transfer window, the Bhoys cannot rest knowing that Tierney will be adorning the green and white stripes next season and that’s because Ian McGarry, a well-known football consultant, revealed via the Transfer Window podcast (o3/07/18, 02:30), that the defender is being “actively marketed out.”

So while the Premier League club may no longer wish to pursue a deal, that does not mean other teams will not be tempted into launching a multi-million-pound deal to acquire the available speedster.

And that all means that for the time being, Hoops supporters will be happy in the knowledge that the four-goal, 11-assists left-sided flyer continues to be a Celtic player but the groundwork is being laid to prepare an exit away from Parkhead.

So they can’t relax, just yet.
