Aston Villa are reportedly in the hunt to sign Chelsea forward Tammy Abraham on loan this summer – and completing a deal for the England international would cause many fans of the Midlands club to lose their minds.

Abraham, 20, proved two seasons ago that he can be prolific in the Championship as he scored 26 goals in 48 appearances across all competitions for Bristol City.

He even ran the show in the Robins’ victory over Villa at Ashton Gate in August 2016 when he scored and supplied an assist in a 3-1 win for City.

And now it looks as though Steve Bruce wants him at Villa Park for the upcoming 2018/19 season with the Birmingham Mail reporting that a temporary deal is on the cards for the Chelsea striker.

It is understood that while Aston Villa want to sign the 20-year-old on loan, he would rather stay in the Premier League despite a poor season at Swansea last time out in which he scored just eight goals and the Welsh club was relegated.

Turkish giants Galatasaray are also said to be interested.

Abraham would no doubt be a quality addition for Aston Villa following weeks of uncertainty about their financial future.

Although Financial Fair Play rules must still be taken into account, Abraham is reportedly earning £50,000-a-week (Spotrac) on his deal at Stamford Bridge and would surely be a costly loan signing for the West Midlands giants.

However for someone who is as proven as he is in the Championship, it would absolutely be worth the gamble if Bruce can convince him to drop down to the second-tier for one more year.
