?Leeds United confirmed the loan signing of Chelsea midfielder Lewis Baker on Saturday and his arrival may not be good news for everybody.

The 23-year-old Englishman is a highly-rated talent that will be looking to make the most of his spell at Elland Road and has previously proven himself elsewhere.

He has previously thrived in the Dutch league with Vitesse Arnhem, where he scored 20 goals and supplied 11 assists in 73 appearances.

Baker is most effective in an advanced midfield position and the fact he is the first arrival under new manager Marcelo Bielsa suggests he could play a key role next season.

However, current Whites midfielder Kalvin Phillips may be in direct competition for a spot in the starting XI and may have to raise his game to be in the side.

The 22-year-old was a mainstay for large spells of the last campaign and managed to chip in with an impressive tally of seven goals.

He is a product of the Yorkshire club’s prestigious academy, but will have to raise his game to be part of a side that are hoping they can be in the mix for promotion.

It is unclear on what exact formation manager Bielsa will opt for, but it seems like Ronaldo Vieira and Adam Forshaw would be in line for more defensive roles in midfield, leaving Baker or Phillips further forward.

Phillips would have every right to fear the axe ahead of the new campaign and it will be interesting to see if he can feature in a new-look Leeds XI.
