Chris Sutton has hinted on Twitter he would find it a surprise if Celtic defender Kieran Tierney was to leave this summer amid reported interest from Everton.

The Scottish Sun reports that the Premier League side could arrive with a £25million bid to try sign the left-back in the next 72 hours.

It is understood that Everton may offer him a contract worth over £60,000-a-week and feel he is the perfect long-term successor to Leighton Baines at Goodison Park.

“KT (Tierney) has always been adamant he is very happy at Celtic…” Sutton wrote on his personal Twitter account when asked about the Tierney speculation.

OPINION

Tierney clear is a Celtic supporter through and through, who is living out his dream with the Bhoys by helping them dominate domestically. The attack-minded full-back hasn’t looked back since breaking into the first team and has been with the club since a youngster in their academy. He managed to chip in a remarkable 11 assists in all competitions last season and the Scotland international is rightfully regarded as one of the best young British defenders.  There is no questioning the 21-year-old’s loyalty to his boyhood club, but sooner or later the interest from the riches of the Premier League was going to come. Sutton finds it hard to believe that Everton would be able to pull him away and they are miles away from some of the giants in England. However, he and Celtic could be given a real test of their resolve if the big-money £25million offer does arrive as expected in the next few days.
