Tottenham could make a move to sign Barcelona defender Jordi Alba after the World Cup, according to AS.

The Spanish publication claims that the 29-year-old is seeking to leave Camp Nou this summer and that he has a £52.5million release clause in his contract.

It is understood that Spurs are currently patiently waiting for the Spain international and could make their approach in July to try bring the left-back to the Premier League.

Alba is a left-sided flyer that has been a serial winner during his six years with the Spanish giants and won four La Liga titles in that time.

Good move for Spurs?

Alba is certainly in the top five left-backs in the world and he would be a sensational buy for Spurs if he did move to England.

He is a modern day full-back that loves to bomb forward and is part of a Barcelona team that can be unstoppable on their day.

He managed an incredible 12 assists in 48 appearances during the most recent season and his high-profile addition would be perfect ahead of the move to a new stadium.

Likely to happen?

Alba to Spurs is surely just a rumour that will never actually happen and a clue may be in the reported price tag of just over £50million, which seems extremely low for one of the most elite defenders in World Football.
