Aston Villa have not received any formal bids for midfielder Jack Grealish so far, according to the Birmingham Mail.

The local newspaper claim that Tony Xia wants to sell the 22-year-old playmaker to the highest bidder and believes his sale can bring in a fee of £25million in order to help ease the club’s financial problems.

The Birmingham Mail report that the sale of Grealish is likely due to the amount he can be sold for and that the player has left his future in the hands of his representatives.

OPINION

According to the Birmingham Mail’s report there has been no concrete offers for Grealish so far, which is good news for supporters as they won’t want to see him leave. Fans are no doubt worried about the club’s money problems nearly as much as Xia but the thought of losing Grealish is a hard one to consider. The 22-year-old midfielder was one of the club’s best players, if not the best, in their 2017/18 campaign after putting in some spectacular performances during the 34 appearances he made. However it seems after just missing out on reaching the promise land of the Premier League the club have no choice but to sell their assets in order to combat the club’s financial issues. The Sun previously reported that both Tottenham and Liverpool were circling Grealish but it seems neither Premier League powerhouse has made their move as of yet. Hopefully if the midfielder is going to have to be sacrificed, the biggest fee possible is achieved from his sale and perhaps fetches more than the £25million Xia believes it will.
