Both Rangers and Nottingham Forest are in the hunt to sign Kilmarnock attacker Jordan Jones this summer after a stunning season at Rugby Park, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper claimed via their live transfer blog on Saturday [11:45am] that Sunderland and Norwich are also interested in Jones, 23, and he could be available for £600,000 in the current transfer window.

Rangers were confirmed to have made a bid for the Northern Ireland international in January by Kilmarnock manager Steve Clarke, and it is understood that they are still keen on him this summer with the report saying that they are “watching developments”.

Jones, who is known for explosive pace on the wing, is in the final year of his contract at Rugby Park and has rejected new terms so far.

Good move for Rangers?

Jones was in top form for Kilmarnock last season as they turned around their entire season under the charge of Clarke to secure a top-half finish.

The Northern Ireland international was key in that revival as he scored four goals and supplied 10 assists in 41 appearances across all competitions.

Rangers are clearly very keen on the attacker having made a bid for him in January, and they should look to follow that up with another bid this summer because they could do with the extra depth in the wide positions.

For £600,000, there’s not a major risk involved either and it should be an affordable move.

Likely to happen?

The Light Blues are obviously big fans of Jones, but now he is in the final year of his Kilmarnock contract, that has attracted the attention of some big clubs from south of the border.

Sunderland will obviously be able to offer him plenty of first team football in League One, but the excitement that surrounds Nottingham Forest at the moment could also be a major pulling factor.

A move to Ibrox does not look as nailed-on as it once did.
