Portugal international Joao Cancelo has decided to join Juventus over Wolves, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper claimed in their live transfer blog on Wednesday [09:47am] that Cancelo, 24, had the choice to join the Serie A champions or the Premier League new boys earlier this week.

It is understood that the Valencia ace, who spent last season on loan at Inter Milan, made the quickfire decision to head to Juve in a deal worth £32million, snubbing the West Midlands club.

Juventus have now confirmed on their official Twitter account that the former Benfica right-back is set to have his medical checks ahead of completing his permanent move to Italy.

OPINION

Premier League newcomers Wolves have been linked with a lot of top players this summer, but they are yet to really get going and have only welcomed goalkeeper Rui Patricio on a free transfer from Sporting CP on top of making a few loan deals permanent. Super-agent Jorge Mendes is bound to have a massive impact on who goes to Molineux this transfer window, but he appears to have been more busy with Nottingham Forest, undergoing a similar process over in the East Midlands as to what he did in the West Midlands last year. Surely Wolves’ business will kick off after the World Cup though as many of Neves’ top clients are currently in Russia. Cancelo was surprisingly not picking in the Portugal squad for this year’s tournament so that is probably why his move has gone through now while other clients of Mendes are more focused on international football.
