Tottenham have tabled a £21.8million (€25million) bid for Ajax’s dazzling winger Justin Kluivert but face a battle for his capture from Italian giants Roma, according to Corriere dello Sport.

The Italian outlet claim on their website that the Lilywhites have been followed in their approach for the lightning fast 19-year-old forward by the Serie A side, who have matched their offer to the Dutch club, while Manchester United and Barcelona are also said to be in the hunt for the diminutive 5’6″ (source: Transfermarkt) flyer.

Kluivert, son of former Newcastle United star Patrick, has been in good form for the Eredivisie heavyweights, scoring 11 goals and chipping in with five assists over the last season, with his versatility meaning he can operate on both the right and left flanks if needed.

Good move for Tottenham?

At a fee just over £20million, it would be a great piece of business.

At 19-years-old he has a seriously bright future ahead of him and he is beginning to prove why there is so much interest in his capture.

Sure, his surname might have something to do with it but 11 goals for a winger is a solid return and he is only going to grow and develop into his game.

The only question is under who will he be learning under?

Mauricio Pochettino has a great record of working with youngsters and giving them a decent amount of time in the first team, and with a lack of quality wingers at Spurs, Kluivert could flourish in north London.

Likely to happen?

With so much interest in his capture Tottenham face a big battle to get a deal over the line.

It could be that wherever can offer him the most first team football will come out on top, and Spurs could consider themselves favourites in that regard.

Still, nothing is simple in football, and this is certainly not a guaranteed move.
