After spending the second half of last season on loan at Championship outfit Middlesbrough, the future of Everton’s Mo Besic is yet to be settled with the Bosnian wanting to know where he stands with boss Marco Silva, says the Northern Echo.

The midfielder is said to be tempted by a return to Boro under boss Tony Pulis according to the newspaper, but Silva must bring Besic in from the cold at Everton as he is a player worthy of a Premier League place at Goodison Park.

The 25-year-old was a star performer in Bosnia’s appearance at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, and his established international status cements him as a player with a wealth of experience.

With the futures of many players yet to be settled at Everton, it is time Silva gave Besic another shot at Everton – after all, the only reason he has been left surplus to requirements is that he has been hit with injury for the past two seasons.

A manager has no choice but to send a player out on loan who has recently come back from injury, because their form is undoubtedly not the best. The same thing happened to Besic – which seems unfair when his dip in form was not his fault.

Loaning out the Bosnian international out again would obviously give him the game time he deserves, but there is no reason why he cannot receive that at Goodison Park if he is given the chance.

Besic impressed at the Riverside Stadium for the remainder of last season and established himself as a firm fan favourite amongst the Boro faithful.

Operating as a defensive midfielder, Besic would provide stability in the middle of the park and give solid cover to the back four that would work well in Silva’s system.

He is capable of keeping possession, which will be essential in getting the ball up front to the strikers and providing important assists.

Nevertheless, the good form he has demonstrated for Middlesbrough surely gives Silva enough reason to implement him back into the squad – and he must do so to boost the quality in the Toffees’ midfield.
