With the Steven Gerrard revolution well and truly underway, the Light Blues have seen some proven top flight quality through the door – and Motherwell defender Cedric Kipre should be joining the team at Ibrox.

The Gers are looking to improve on their third placed finish in the Scottish Premiership last season, having to settle for a spot behind both fierce rivals Celtic and second placed Aberdeen after a campaign which was fraught with issues both on and off the pitch.

The new arrivals – which include the likes of Allen McGregor and Jon Flanagan – will be expected to close the gap at the top, and with the financial issues at Ibrox, they will have to make some clever signings from their limited budget.

The Sun reporter Alan Nixon claims that Championship side Hull City are keen on snapping up centre back giant Kipre, who stands at 6’3″ (source: Transfermarkt) from Motherwell this summer, and that a bargain deal could well be on the cards.

With 49 appearances under his belt for the Steelmen, he can be considered a proven talent in Scotland’s top flight, and with Rangers needing defensive reinforcements, he would be a quality capture for a minimal fee.

However, a swoop might require some democratic negotiations to try and clear some bad blood between Kipre and current Ibrox star Ryan Jack, after the 21-year-old powerhouse left the midfielder out of action with a tackle – something the Gers man has not forgiven.

He revealed his fume to the Daily Record, saying: “I thought it was a shocking tackle, to be honest.

“There is no point me sitting and saying I thought it was a good challenge or an unlucky challenge, I thought he waited until I got the ball and then he knew he had a chance to hurt me and he did.”

Kipre would be a great capture at Rangers, and at least Jack would know that the defender would be looking to impose himself on the opposition rather than him.
