Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has demanded that there is immediate investment to undertake a complete revamp of the club’s training ground in a bid to boost their hopes in the transfer market, according to the Scottish Sun.

The newspaper report that the Liverpool icon wants the Light Blues to conduct major development to improve the facilities at the newly named The Hummel Training Centre, as he looks to dazzle prospective signings with brand new equipment and convince them to put pen to paper over arriving at Ibrox.

Some of the proposed changes are said to be a change of the kitchen facilities in order to offer a wider range of meal options available to players and staff, as well as giving a lick of paint to what is described as a “tired” complex.

Opinion

While most fans might be hoping to see most, if not all, the money available at Ibrox to go on developing the first team squad, but Gerrard is proving that he has the club’s long-term interests at heart. By improving the facilities at the training ground, it will give not only those currently at the club a boost, but will help to convince those who might be sitting on the fence about joining a side who finished third in Scotland. Rangers should not be a hard sell to many but with the lack of funds that are offered either down in England or across Glasgow at Celtic, there will be some who require a push to put pen to paper and this investment behind-the-scenes can be the game changing move that the Light Blues need to take it to the next level. Whether it comes off or not is another matter entirely.
