Rangers have been dealt a worrying injury scare after Graham Dorrans picked up a knee knock in training, according to the Scottish Sun.

The newspaper state that Steven Gerrard has sent the 31-year-old midfielder home from the training camp in Spain in order to have a scan to assess the injury later today.

The Sun report that fans will now worry about Dorrans as he could be facing a spell on the sidelines ahead of the club’s Europa League qualifiers next month.

OPINION

Dorrans’ scan results will soon reveal all and hopefully he gets the all clear regarding his knee. The newspaper’s report shares that Gerrard sent the 31-year-old midfielder as a precaution and hopefully that sees him able to rest his knee in order to be fully fit as soon as possible. Supporters will rightly worry about Dorrans however due to his injury record last season. The veteran required an operation on his ankle and several months of the season after hurting his ankle during the 1-1 draw with Kilmarnock back in October. Dorrans still managed to make 20 appearances across all competitions for the Gers last season but fans would obviously prefer it if he was fit for every game possible. It’s also worth nothing that if it turns out that it’s more than just a knock to his knee, pre-season is an awful time to sustain an injury. This is because it can cause a player to have trouble getting up to speed during competitive games rather than be able to ease their selves back into matches that have nothing riding on them.
