Brendan Rodgers must attempt to keep the in-demand full-back Kieran Tierney even if Celtic receive record-breaking bids from Everton.

It was reported on Saturday morning by the Mirror that Everton were set to bid £25million for the services of Tierney, who has three times been named as the Scottish Young player of the year.

Rodgers must make it his duty to ensure that the 21-year-old does not leave Celtic Park just yet, as the skillset brought forward by the left-back is a rare commodity.

Tierney has been associated with the Hoops since 2005, where he joined the Academy setup as a seven-year-old child.

The fact that he has turned into such a dynamic talent is mesmerising, and it is rare that a player will graduate from an Academy and become such a difference maker for the first team.

Tierney managed 11 assists last season moving forward from a defensive role, which was obviously helped by the Hoops’ deadly strikers.

Yet if Rodgers allows Tierney to leave it will represent a gross failure by the club, as once again Celtic would not have been able to hang onto one of their best players, as is so often the case.

The money would help the club, but what would they do with it one must consider, seeing as they have already won six trophies in two years.

Tierney was crucial to this, and with Rangers seemingly on a resurgence, it would be foolish to allow the ace to leave at this point.
