Wolves must end Patricio interest and pursue Newcastle’s Sels instead

Wolves must end their pursuit of Portuguese goalkeeper Rui Patricio and turn their attention to Newcastle United’s man in the shadows, Matz Sels, who is said to be available for a snip of a price.

The 26-year-old Belgian international was a revelation last term when he spent the season on loan in the Jupiler Pro League starring for Anderlecht.

According to a report in The Sun, the Magpies have rejected a bid of £1.75million from Anderlecht who are pursuing the goalie on a permanent deal after his successful spell with them, but that Newcastle want £500,000 more which would equate to just £2.25m.

With the money they have splashed over the last 12 months, moneybags Wolves should have no problems in meeting the North East club’s estimation of the player.

As there remains no movement in the capture of 6’2″ (source: Transfermarkt) colossus Patricio, who the Daily Mail report the club are in negotiations for, they only have John Ruddy in goal as an option for the club so far for their Premier League escapades, meaning numbers and quality are needed for the position.

Therefore, Nuno Espirito Santo would be better off heading into the market for a player who is one, openly available on the transfer market and two, available for a reasonable price.

With Napoli also said to be in the running for the Sporting Lisbon keeper, there is the possibility that his capture could turn into a bidding war and therefore, Sels would be the best bet – not to mention he also has a reliable pair of hands.
