West Ham right back Sam Byram is one of eight players who the club would be willing to sell this summer as they plot a clear out of the senior side, according to club insider ExWHUemployee.

The Twitter account, which has established itself as a top source of inside knowledge surrounding the Hammers, claims that the Irons are open to incoming offers for a handful of their stars, including the 24-year-old former Leeds flyer, after his struggles at the London Stadium.

Byram has only made 36 appearances since arriving from Elland Road, with 10 of those coming over the last campaign with injury decimating his chances of playing regular first team football, and with Ryan Fredericks reported to be close to signing, it is said he could be part of the massive overhaul.

Opinion

It seems as though new manager Manuel Pellegrini is wasting no time in figuring out exactly who he wants to stay and go at the London Stadium, and eight departures will mean a number of gaps in the squad which need to be filled. Byram certainly has not had the best of luck when it comes to his fitness and that seems to have gone against him. However, if he is given the chance to prove himself in pre-season, then there is the opportunity to save his career in east London and push for a place in the first team. Still, if West Ham are going to try and snap up Fredericks from Fulham, it only leaves Byram facing more competition, and a move away might be for the best. He will not be the only exit this summer, and there could well be an entirely new starting XI lining up when the new season kicks off in August.
