West Ham United have joined the hotly-contested hunt for Huddersfield star Aaron Mooy, according to The World Game.

The Australian outlet report that the Hammers are now the fifth Premier League team in pursuit of the 27-year-old central midfielder, with Everton and Southampton the other clubs named.

The World Game claim that the Terriers value their star man around £18million, although it is possible that the club may demand more than that after his assured performances for Australia at the World Cup.

Mooy has starred so far for the Socceroos, who have drawn against Denmark and lost to France so far in the tournament.

Good move for West Ham?

Absolutely.

Mooy was the standout performer for Huddersfield as they defied expectations to remain in the Premier League last season, and the Australia international is certainly ready for a step up.

West Ham are badly in need of a new central midfield presence, and Mooy would be the perfect candidate to come in and rejuvenate that position this summer.

A deal struck at £18million would also be brilliant value for money in today’s market.

Likely to happen?

The hunt for Mooy looks increasingly tough, with five Premier League clubs in pursuit of the 27-year-old.

The World Game further claim that there is a Serie A club and a Ligue 1 outfit also interested, and that makes things even more interesting.

You would think however that the Hammers can put themselves in a good position should their interest be genuine, with new manager Manuel Pellegrini sure to be an attraction for players this summer.
