West Ham attacker Marko Arnautovic has confirmed he is staying put at West Ham this summer when probed about a potential move to Manchester United.

The Red Devils have been linked with a move for the 6’3″ (source: Transfermarkt) colossus by Sky Sports, with the Hammers said to have slapped a stunning £50million price tag on his head.

However, the Austrian star said he has not heard anything about a transfer to Old Trafford amid the reported interest from the Premier League giants, with the 29-year-old reluctant to link his future services to the Red Devils, letting any transfer rumours to be discussed elsewhere.

He told Sky Sports Austria, as relayed by the Metro: “I am happy with my job. Whatever happens will happen. I’ve never heard anything.

“Even three weeks ago I haven’t heard anything. That’s why I cannot say anything about it.

“The only thing that bothers me is that I am in good health and that I am able to play football. ‘I have a contract at West Ham – that’s all we have to talk about.”

The Austrian international has shone during his current spell at the East London outfit, scoring 11 goals for the side.

OPINION

This declaration by the forward will undoubtedly serve a huge blow to Jose Mourinho, who seemed intent on signing him following his appearance at a friendly match. The Manchester United boss is keen to add creativity and depth to his side, and it appeared that Arnautovic fit the bill. He would have served as an out and out striker for Mourinho’s squad, providing an attacking threat that his men lacked last season. However, the striker seems pretty dedicated to serving West Ham, and the Irons faithful will no doubt be delighted. Mourinho will now have to look elsewhere following this statement, unless the Austrian can be convinced otherwise. The Portuguese manager will be under pressure to deliver some top level signings in time for the season opener in August, and will surely be seeking a player of Arnautovic’s calibre. As for West Ham, they get to keep their talisman up front, and they will be hoping he can replicate his performances from the second half of last season again.
