Italian side Fiorentina have tabled an eight-figure bid of £15million to snap up West Ham midfielder Pedrio Obiang as a massive transfer battle heats up for his capture, according to the Sun.

The newspaper state that the Serie A side lead a whole host of potential suitors for the 26-year-old and are the first to place an offer for his signature, with Villareal and Besiktas also expected to follow suit and try and convince Manuel Pellegrini to sell up.

It is stated that the new West Ham boss is mulling over cashing in on the central star in a bid to build funds to spend over summer, with injuries having decimated his season.

Good move for West Ham?

Obiang was a firm favourite in the middle of the park until he suffered a particularly nasty knee injury which kept him out for the rest of the campaign.

The Irons definitely missed his presence and it would be strange to see Pellegrini let him go without giving him the chance to prove himself in pre-season.

The £15million price tag is nothing special either, especially for a proven Premier League star with a contract at the London Stadium which runs until 2022, and it would be difficult to replace a player of his calibre with the funds his sale would generate.

Money is important, but so is proven quality, and Obiang has the latter.

Likely to happen?

With so many clubs chasing his capture, it could just be a matter of time until someone puts down an offer that the Hammers cannot refuse.

An immediate exit seems unlikely, but the longer that uncertainty reigns over his future, the more chance of an exit there will be.
