With Toby Alderweireld’s future up in the air and Juan Foyth yet to prove his worth as a senior centre back, there needs to be defensive reinforcements brought in this summer at Tottenham.

Mauricio Pochettino will be hoping to build on what was a pretty impressive campaign both domestically and on the European stage, and with the club now established as a top four regular in the Premier League, there will some aspiration of silverware.

Whether that is the Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup or Champions League, Spurs are going to need some quality running through not only their first team but the entire squad, and with Alderweireld seemingly on his way, another centre back needs to be snapped up.

While a proven Premier League option would be good, someone who has experience on the European stage would be better, and the situation at RB Leipzig could throw up a decent option or two.

The German side failed to qualify for the Champions League after finishing sixth in the Bundesliga, with Bild reporting that many of their senior stars are keen on leaving for more reputable sides.

One such name is Willi Orban, the report stating that the 25-year-old centre back, who is also club captain, is desperate to secure a move away.

A regular in Leipzig’s starting XI, he appeared in every one of their Champions League matches last season, going on to help his side to the Europa League quarter finals.

The powerhouse wants to play at the top level of Europe and with Spurs needing a new centre back, it could be a perfect match.
