Having battled it out at the top of the Premier League table for the last 10 months, it would come as no surprise if the feud between Liverpool and Tottenham continued into the summer transfer window.

The two clubs were left to try and overcome one another in the battle for a top four spot and in the end it was Mauricio Pochettino’s side who came out on top in third, finishing one place ahead of the Reds, although Jurgen Klopp might consider his side’s Champions League final appearance as the real bragging rights.

Now, with recruitment firmly at the forefront of both managers’ minds, they could go head-to-head as their priorities over summer run parallel to one another.

One area both sides are lacking is in the wide roles, with Spurs and Liverpool missing quality in backup to their starting XI.

It looks as though Tottenham have launched an attempt to try and rectify their issues on the flanks, with Corriere dello Sport claiming that the Lilywhites have tabled a £21.8million (€25million) for the services of Ajax’s dazzling 19-year-old Justin Kluivert.

The Dutch international scored 11 goals for the giants of the Netherlands last season, and his electric pace appears to have garnered the interest of European heavyweights Barcelona, Manchester United and Roma too.

However, with Liverpool lacking quality understudies for the likes of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane, their name should not only be among that list but leading the way and trying to hijack Spurs’ offer.

The youngster has the abilities to be a real game changer with his cutting edge, something the Reds have lacked at times, and with time on his side, Jurgen Klopp can help him grow into the player he can become.
