Tottenham will have to forget signing Fulham teen sensation Ryan Sessegnon for another season as the versatile left-flanker is set to remain with the Cottagers, according to The Telegraph.

The report states that following the west London club’s promotion into the Premier League they will be keeping hold of the 18-year-old.

Sessegnon blew the Championship away last season, scoring 15 goals and six assists in a campaign where he was ever-present.

The decision to remain with the Cottagers will have come as a massive blow to Spurs who were seemingly in hot pursuit of the left-sided ace had it not come to light that Manchester United had ended their interest in Danny Rose – it now looks as though the 27-year-old will be staying at White Hart Lane.

OPINION:

Sessegnon is a sensational prospect and it will be interesting to see how he gets on in the Premier League playing for Fulham but whether Rose stays or goes, it remains a blow to the Lilywhites as it does not look like they will be getting their target. The Cottagers starlet is younger, brighter and more vivacious than Rose who struggled to get game time last season, making just ten appearances in the entirety of the campaign and has suffered with mental health problems. There is now every chance that the 27-year-old will continue to sit in the shadows in North London if he is not sold on this summer and Spurs should bring in Sessegnon whether Rose remains at the club or not. After such a long spell away from first team action, the England international will undoubtedly be rusty and struggle to keep up with the speed and physicality of the top-flight.
