Broadcaster Richard Keys has hailed Tottenham chief Daniel Levy for tying Harry Kane down to a new Tottenham contract before the World Cup.

BeIN Sports anchor Keys claimed on his personal Twitter account on Monday that the Spurs chairman has pulled off a blinder by negotiating a six-year contract with the England star earlier this month.

Key praised Levy for completing the “best piece of business anyone will do this summer” and insisted Kane’s value is sky rocketing every time he pulls on a shirt.

OPINION

Who can argue with Keys’ claim after the events of the weekend, when Kane’s hat-trick catapulted England to a remarkable 6-1 World Cup win? No matter than two of the goals were penalties and the third a fortuitous deflection. England have been so hopeless at spot-kicks in major tournaments in recent decades, it is a joy to have such a nerveless operator from 12 yards. Kane is a brilliant striker and England and Tottenham are lucky to have him. Spurs pushed the boat out like never before by handing Kane a contract that not only runs until 2024 but also blows their wage structure to smithereens. Widespread reports stated the deal is worth £200,000-a-week including bonuses, double any contract ever handed to a Tottenham player. Is he worth it? Given the cash swimming around Premier League clubs banking the eyewatering broadcasting contracts, he certainly is. Like the postman, Kane always delivers. Well done, Levy.
