A section of Newcastle fans have been sent into meltdown as the Magpies have announced the signing of Ki Sung-Yeung.
The former Swansea man has arrived at St James Park by means of a free transfer, becoming the second addition this window after goalkeeper Martin Dubravka, much to the delight of the Newcastle faithful.
Particularly ecstatic fans took to Twitter to voice their jubilation, and here are a few of the best reactions to the news:
Nice kit, and a tidy squad player who I’ve always quietly admired. Shrewd buy on a free, a player who has PL and international experience. #NUFC

Free transfer, a lot of experience, Merino leaving good signing for me won't set the world on fire but will do a very good job

Ki will bring some much-needed Premier League experience to the Newcastle midfield, and his signature has not broken the bank either.
Manager Rafa Benitez looks to have targeted the centre of the park as a key area, and this acquisition will greatly help the Magpies going into next season.
OPINION
This looks like some smart business by Benitez, who knows how to make the most out of low-value deals as a manager. Ki brings with him a wealth of Premier League experience that will on serve the Magpies in good stead. The fans themselves are enjoying the news, as well as what appears to be the newest Magpies strip, which shows once more that you do not need to spend big to keep everyone happy. Ki’s presence could facilitate the sale of Mikel Merino, which only furthers the happiness felt by Newcastle fans. Newcastle are quietly undertaking some nice business during this transfer window, with both additions serving to add some quality in depth for the Magpies ranks.
